Q: Do I need any previous art experience or skills?
A: Not at all. I’ll meet you exactly where you are. Art therapy is not about being a good artist, though it may help you become one.
Q: How does art therapy work?
A: Talking therapy with core elements of art making and experimentation. We will talk, and you will relax and make art. Vivensia’s approach uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Gestalt Theory and integrative psychodynamic techniques.
Q: What will I make?
A: You may find yourself working towards completing fully realised artworks or working your way through varied creative processes. This will depend on your needs and desires.Q: How long does art therapy take?
A: A typical session lasts for about 70 minutes, every week or fortnight. It can continue for as long as desired or needed. This will all vary depending on you.Q: I can’t describe what I need or want. Can we still begin?
A: Absolutely. Therapy is a process of learning and a journey that will help you find your answers.
Q: Do I need any art supplies?
A: I’ll bring everything we need.Q: Can we meet somewhere other than my home?
A: Yes. We can arrange to meet in a calm public place such a library, park or shared workspace.
